Construction Requires Lane Closures on Highway 227 in Hot Springs

GARLAND COUNTY | June 30, 2022

Construction to widen Highway 270 to five lanes in Garland County requires lane closures on Highway 227 in Hot Springs.

Weather permitting, crews will reduce Highway 227 (Mountain Pine Road) to two open lanes between Highway 270 and Frona Lane, keeping a single lane open in either direction. Two lanes of southbound traffic will be restored as traffic approaches the Highway 270/227 intersection. This work will occur from Tuesday, July 5 through Saturday, July 30.

These lane closures will enable crews to continue constructing new pavement to realign Highway 227 with Highway 270. After the new pavement is tied to existing Highway 227, traffic will be shifted east onto the new section of road.

Traffic will be controlled with signage and message boards, construction barrels, and barriers. The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds.

This project (Job CA0607) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening 1.5 miles of Highway 270 to five lanes and bike lanes, extending generally from Fleetwood Drive to Highway 227 in Garland County. This project also includes improvements to the interchange with Hwy. 227. More information on this $22.6 million project is available at https://www.connectingarkansasprogram.com
