Cost of college went up for all students at the College of the Ouachitas

In-state tuition and fees rose 5.7 percent for 2018-19 at the College of the Ouachitas, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Arkansas residents paid $3,890 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $210 more than the $3,680 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 74.8 percent more than residents this year, or $6,800. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 4.1 percent from $6,530 in 2017-18.

100 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Arkansas residents.

Data shows 90 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 94 students received grants or scholarships totaling $402,045 and 18 students took out student loans totaling more than $64,895.

Including all undergraduates (1,257), 983 students used grants or scholarships totaling $2.4 million, and 237 students took out $1.3 million in federal student loans.
