The Little Rock women’s golf team is tied for 10th place after nearly two rounds at the Thunderbird Intercollegiate in Tucson, Arizona. Play was suspended Monday evening due to darkness, with two Trojans needing to complete their final hole Tuesday morning before the start of the last round.
Little Rock shares its position at 33-over par with No. 20 Oklahoma State and Cal Poly in a field that features several nationally ranked teams. Stanford leads the tournament at five-under par, while Baylor holds second place at nine-over.
“We knew this was going to be tough competition on a challenging course, but we have played well,” said Trojans head coach Jenna Birch. “We want to finish strong tomorrow and keep playing well.”
Elvira Flodstrom led Little Rock individually through two rounds with a four-over-par 148. “Elvira has been really steady for us and did a great job managing the course,” Birch said. “She stayed composed, trusted her game, and that consistency set the tone for our lineup.”
Lara Martin is tied for 59th place at 14-over par, while Eleonore Aernouts stands at six-over. Cloe Poizac and Nina Pitchsh each have one hole left in their second round.
“Our players stayed patient and competed on every hole, even as conditions got tough late in the day,” Birch said. “That focus is going to matter tomorrow as we finish the round and head into the final day.”
The final round will begin Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. CST, with unfinished golfers teeing off earlier to complete their second round holes. Temperatures reached the mid-80s under sunny skies Monday; slightly cooler weather is expected Tuesday with highs near 79 degrees.
