The Little Rock women’s golf team concluded its participation in the Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational on Thursday, finishing fifth at the Flamboyan Course at Palmas Del Mar Country Club. The Trojans completed the three-day tournament with a total score of +37, recording rounds of +17, +7, and +13 among an eight-team field.
Georgia State secured first place with a team score of +13. Central Arkansas followed in second at +16, Arkansas State took third at +20, and Ball State finished fourth with +21.
Eleonore Aernouts led Little Rock individually, tying for 12th overall with a final score of +7 after shooting a four-over-par 76 in the last round. “Eleonore played some really solid golf this week,” said Little Rock head coach Jenna Birch. “She stayed patient, managed the course well, and put herself in good positions throughout the tournament.”
Sophomore Iara Martin also performed well, finishing 18th overall at +9 after carding a three-over-par 75 in the final round. Martin scored 38 on the front nine and 37 on the back nine to finish her event steadily. “Lara continues to show how consistent she can be for us,” Birch said. “She competed well all week and gave us another strong effort.”
Cloe Poizac contributed one of the team’s best rounds on Thursday with a one-over-par 73 to end at +11 overall. Fehild Graesel matched that total after posting a 78 (+6) in the final round. Elvira Flodstrom closed out her tournament at +18 following a five-over-par 77.
Birch noted that playing in this event offered important experience as the Trojans continue their spring schedule. “I thought our team competed well this week and showed a lot of resilience,” Birch said. “This course can challenge you, and we saw some good things that we can build on moving forward.”
The Trojans will next compete at the ULM Invitational beginning Monday, March 30 in Monroe, Louisiana.
