Tuition rates for Arkansas residents attending Arkansas State University Three Rivers dropped by 2.9% during the 2022-23 school year, as revealed in the latest report, according to the latest disclosure from the National Center for Education Statistics.

For the 2022-23 academic year, in-state students paid $3,356 to attend the two-year public college, which is $102 less than the $3,458 charged in the 2021-22 school year.

Non-resident students faced tuition costs 72.2% higher than those for residents in 2022-23, amounting to $5,780. This represents a 1.7% decrease from the $5,882 charged in the previous year.

The entire undergraduate student body at the institution consists of Arkansas residents.

Data indicates that 92% of full-time undergraduates who began studies at Arkansas State University Three Rivers in 2022-23 received some form of financial aid. Among them, 82 students were awarded grants or scholarships totaling $886,210, while 18 students borrowed more than $101,419 in student loans.

Across all undergraduate students, 1,262 received grants or scholarships amounting to $3 million. Additionally, 200 students obtained federal student loans totaling $1.4 million.

Undergraduate education costs have seen a significant increase over the past few decades. Data shows a 169% rise in the average total cost, including tuition, fees, room, and board, between 1980 and 2020.

According to a 2023 College Board report, in-state students at public universities paid an average of $11,260, while out-of-state students paid $29,150 in the 2023-24 academic year.

Meanwhile, student loan debt has steadily increased over the last 30 years, reaching $1.75 trillion in 2024, averaging a total of $28,950 per borrower. Federal loans make up 92% of the debt, with over half of students at both public and private four-year colleges graduating with student loans.
