The Hot Springs Utilities water system is at critically low levels, and the City of Hot Springs is asking residents in the waterworks system to conserve water usage.
“Water is critical for firefighting needs, and conservation will ensure water remains available for everybody in the system. Please do everything you can to save water during this time – skip a shower, skip a bath, leave a drip running overnight, rather than a stream – conserve as much as you can,” said City Manager Bill Burrough.

There are tips for preventing frozen pipes and what to do if your pipes do freeze at www.cityhs.net/utilities by clicking on “What to do about frozen pipes…” One important best practice is to leave a drip (not a stream), running overnight when temperatures drop below freezing. When temperatures rise above 32 degrees, please turn off all dripping faucets.
The shortage is due to the extremely low temperatures and the resulting water line breaks. City Utilities crews have been working around the clock to locate water leaks from busted pipes and to turn off the associated meters as quickly as possible.
